I'm a journalist, photographer and designer.
During my time as a journalism student at Northwestern, I've worked with This Old House magazine, Texas Monthly, North by Northwestern magazine, NorthbyNorthwestern.com, the Medill News Service and The Wichita Eagle. I've also worked in marketing as an intern with New York PR firm Group Gordon and Kansas agency Associated Advertising.
While editing and writing for North by Northwestern, we won the Society of Professional Journalist's Mark of Excellence award for best all-around online publication and were named best magazine/online-only publication by the Associated College Press; our fall 2009 print edition won the SPJ Mark of Excellence award for best student magazine.
In June, I'll graduate from Northwestern with a degree in journalism and a minor in political science; until then, I'm studying politics at the University of Edinburgh.
I'm fluent in HTML, CSS and Javascript, and am currently learning Flash and Ruby on Rails. I'm glued to my iPad, addicted to all forms of social media from Tumblr to Foursquare, and excited about the future of web journalism. Additionally, I'm passionate about environmental issues, American politics and equal rights, culinary journalism and dogs of all breeds.
